ViiV Healthcare’s Positive Action for Children Fund announces 16 new grantees for the year 2011/2012

Expanding our reach to prevent mother-to-child transmission of HIV

London, UK, 13, October, 2011 – ViiV Healthcare announced today that it has awarded approximately £3.9 million to 16 organisations in eight countries, through its Positive Action for Children Fund (PACF). All grantees have been recognised for their commitment to improving the standard of access to care for women, children and families living with or affected by HIV. Such work is closely aligned with the World Health Organization’s vision for addressing the mother-to-child transmission of HIV and works toward achieving the Millennium Development Goals set to reduce child mortality and improve maternal health.

ViiV Healthcare Awards Small Grants from Positive Action for Children Fund to 82 Charitable Organisations Globally

ViiV Healthcare announced on 20 June that it has awarded £1 million to 82 projects in 21 countries across the globe aimed at improving the health and welfare of women, children and families affected by HIV. With this large number of smaller community grants, the Positive Action Children’s Fund aims to stimulate grassroots community action in support of global PMTCT (Preventing Mother to Child Transmission) community efforts to eliminate vertical transmission of HIV. Such work is closely aligned with the World Health Organization’s vision for addressing mother-to-child transmission of HIV and works toward achieving the Millennium Development Goals set to reduce child mortality, improve maternal health and combat spread of HIV.

Positive Action for Children Fund announces its first grants

On 30 June 2010 the Board of the Positive Action for Children Fund announced their first grants to improve the health and welfare of women, children and families affected by HIV. Twelve projects were announced, totalling £3.6m in grants. Recipients include the Women Friendly Initiative in Nigeria, Save the Children in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and the Rajasthan Network of People Living with HIV/AIDS in India.

Positive Action US: Southern Initiative awards seven grants

On 9 September 2010, ViiV Healthcare announced the Positive Action US: Southern Initiative grant awards. Seven community organisations received grants for two years, supporting work to reduce the disparities in linkages to HIV care and treatment and improve adherence among African-Americans and Latinos in Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana and Mississippi.

ViiV Healthcare Expands Positive Action U.S. Southern Initiative to Fight HIV/AIDS in Hard-hit Region

Community Support Program Expands to Four Additional Southern States

On April 4, 2011 – ViiV Healthcare announced that it will expand the Positive Action U.S. Southern Initiative to four additional states and issued a new request for letters of interest (LOIs). Established in 2010, the initiative focuses on linking people living with HIV into care and/or enhancing their treatment adherence and delaying disease progression. Initially piloted in Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana and Mississippi, the expanded program will continue the mission of reducing disparities in HIV/AIDS care and treatment among African-American and Latinos in Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee.
