Reducing the Impact of Lost to Follow Up

Key Challenges

Retention in care is an important pre-requisite for achieving the second and third 90 of the UNAIDS 90- 90-90 targets. As these targets aim to have an AIDS free generation by 2030, it is crucial to understand the region-specific reasons for why PLHIV drop out of care. This will allow identification of higher-risk groups and allow the creation of a tailored, country-specific plan to retain people in care.

So far, an intervention programme has not been developed at a national and regional level.
